Satellite PC - Watch Satellite TV on PC, Satellite on PC
If you’re like me, you love Satellite TV. You want to watch it anywhere. The problem really isn’t that you can’t do it. It’s just that all the people that know how to do it are too afraid to tell people because they’re afraid themselves that DirecTV will unleash its next zap or scrambling algorithm. There are always legal ways to do this. Today, I’ll be talking about one of the best (that I personally use). I found it on Wikipedia (yea, it got on Wikipedia somehow), and I just ran away with it. I found it had better quality than my slingbox, which required that I had more than 360 kbps upstream (or 40 dollar per month cable service).
So why should you even care about doing this? How many times have you been out of town, only to realize that the big colts’ game wasn’t on national television? “Oh crap.” Yep, I’ve been there too.
So here’s how to remedy this situation. The problem with cable tv is location and ability to be accessed. Where I lived, the cable television was regional. It didn’t get to my friends’ houses because it just wasn’t in their area. The beauty of satellite television is that there are no service outages (except maybe during a thunderstorm, and that’s a BIG maybe). It’ll work anywhere otherwise. And with Satellite on your PC, internet access will guarantee that you get Satellite virtually ANYWHERE.

The next thing I will talk about is reception. How many of you remember those bunny ear antennas that always got fuzzy reception. The government’s been trying to trick us to upgrade and purchase digital tv boxes. The truth about those (from personal experience), is that they must be positioned: in the right place, and at the right time. If you move one of those antennas in the wrong direction, you will lose reception almost instantaneously. Change to UHF (green) frequency, and you have to move it even more to be able to tune into your new “digital” channels. It’s not worth your time. I don’t even use my box anymore, so I’m selling mine on craigslist.
The positioning of a satellite is extremely easy. You just need to point it in clear sight of a satellite in the sky, and you’re set. It’s like the old Ron Popel saying, “set it and forget it.” It’s very much the truth. Watching your satellite on PC is even better. No weather problems. No bs. It’s just easier because everything is already online, and feeds are given directly to your computer.
Next, I will talk about channel selection. With cable, BASIC service costs 40 dollars. That’s with no sports package or variety pack. It’s absolutely idiotic. I hate Time Warner Cable and Comcast due to these stupid advertising schemes. The all-in-one deal, for example, refers not to 3 services for 40 dollars, but more like 40 dollars times 3 services, which equals 120 dollars: ALL.. on one receipt and bill.
With satellites services like DirecTV and Dish, it’s much better. Their service is base priced at 20 dollars and has all your local channels. Then, you only need to purchase the channels you want. Satellite TV (or Satellite PC as I like to call it) is the winner.
Last but not least, I’d like to say that Satellite TV owns in pretty much every aspect. It can be accessed everywhere. It’s faster to set up. It’s more economically priced. I hope that my review helps you make your choice between satellite tv, cable tv, or satellite pc. You lose the monthly subscriptions, cables, and expensive set ups that are prevalent in cable television setups.
